Khanyi believes that the world runs on the power of stories, and spent her whole career working to prove it. As a copywriter in advertising, she has created stories about everything from travel in South Africa to whiskey and breakfasts, respectively, to audiences everywhere.
In her personal capacity, as the co-founder of Find New Words, she has worked with LGBT+ South Africans to try to figure out better stories for themselves. As the Global Creative Director at the Wikimedia Foundation, her role is to thread creativity into the complex and inspiring story of free knowledge, while marrying it to her passion for access and the decolonisation of knowledge and its existing structures of inequity.
Her personal goal is to only stop creating stories, when every true story we tell about Africa dispels every myth you’ve ever heard of it.
