Shingirai Mtero is a scholar & Doctoral Candidate in the Department of Political and International Studies at Rhodes University, South Africa, where she formerly served as a Lecturer. Her teaching and research areas include: African Feminism(s), African Gender Studies, International Criminal Justice, Human Security and African Peace & Security. Her PhD research focused on the politics of International Criminal Justice with a particular focus on the International Criminal Court’s cases in Kenya and the African Court of Justice and Human Rights.
Shingirai was a 2018 Mandela Washington Fellow, and a 2017 Visiting Research Fellow at the Danish National Research Foundation’s Centre of Excellence for International Courts at the University of Copenhagen. She holds a Masters in International Studies [Cum Laude] from Rhodes University and a Bachelor of Sciences in Microbiology from the University of Cape Town.
